I can think of some times where he was useful:

In the Androids arc he showed the rest of the Z fighters that No.19 and No.20 can absorb Ki.
In the Yo! Son Goku and his friends return OVA he saved many normal humans (like Chichi) from a collapsing building that would have definitely killed them
In DBS' baseball filler he had Universe 7 win through doing the exact death pose scene you mentioned again. Not that useful here but Beerus threatened everyone to not lose against U6 so the situation could have turned grim real fast.

funny how goku's voice actress is talking to and battling herself, it's crazy that she's been doing his voice for like 30 to 40 years, i think she's in her 80s, gonna miss her once she's gone. wouldn't be surprised if goku the time cop is from the dragon ball gt universe. one day when goku finally awakens super saiyan rainbow hair, it will be all over, he'll finally be the strongest in the multiverse and dragon ball will end.

Dont worry guys, there is a guy in Japan who can do the same voice, he is currently a comedian who pretends to be Goku's VA in all his scripts. The guy is in this group called Identity! He can easily be filling the role, he is a Dragon Ball freak and draw like Toriyama.

Even in Heroes, if feels like the Zen Goku (SSJ4 Goku) is much smarter and strategic than the Super Goku (2015 - SSJB Goku) that's the main character..
Zen Goku acts more of what the 90s Namek Saga Goku was, where yeah he loved fighting, but that's not ALL he thought of...
It's as if Super Goku was inspired and taken from TFS Abridged Goku
